About Gravure Index

Gravure Index is an English-language directory of Japanese gravure idols (グラビアアイドル): swimsuit and photo models, many of whom also work as actresses, singers or television personalities. Gravure is a mainstream part of Japanese entertainment; this site is not an adult site and publishes no adult content.

One page per real person

Each profile corresponds to one real, identifiable person with a public career and a Wikidata entry. Pages are never generated for people who cannot be verified, and nobody under 18 is listed.

Sources

• Structured facts (names, birth date, hometown, height, groups, official accounts) come from Wikidata (CC0). Every page links to its Wikidata item.
• Biographies are written in English from the lead section of the Japanese Wikipedia article (CC BY-SA 4.0) and the Wikidata facts, with the help of a language model, then checked for facts that are not in the sources. They are derivative works and are shared under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 licence.
• Photographs are displayed directly from Wikimedia Commons under their own free licences, with a credit and a link to the file page. We do not re-host images and we do not use magazine or photobook imagery.

Photos, videos and career notes

Where suitable sources are available, profiles include a selection of additional Commons photographs with dates, captions and individual credits. Gallery images are reviewed for identity, context, duplication and adulthood at the time of capture. Official videos are selected individually; their YouTube players load only when you choose to play them. Career notes link to their sources. The amount of material varies by profile.

Updates

The index is rebuilt from the sources on a schedule: new entries are added a few at a time, and existing pages are refreshed when the underlying Wikidata item changes. Facts are reproduced as recorded in the sources; if something is wrong, tell us on the contact page or fix it at the source and the change will propagate.

Advertising

The site is funded by a clearly labelled sponsored block linking to a live-streaming platform. The performers shown there are independent adults who have no connection with the people profiled on this site.
